On the morning of October 11, the opening ceremony of 2023 Training Workshop on Production, Application and Demonstration of Environmentally Friendly Fertilizers for Developing Countries, organized by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and hosted by South China Agricultural University, was held. The training workshop lasted for 21 days. A total of 22 participants from 7 countries in Asia, Africa and the Americas participated in the training. The College of Natural Resources and Environment at SCAU undertook the teaching, which was implemented in English. The course covered organic and inorganic compound fertilizer, controlled release fertilizer, plant nutrition, composting technology, soilless cultivation technology, etc. Participants also visited research institutions, companies, enterprises in Shenzhen, Yunfu and other places. The ceremony was presided over by Zhao Lihong, vice dean of College of International Education(CIE). Feng Lixin, dean of CIE, Li Yongtao, dean of College of Natural Resources and Environment, and Professor Liao Zongwen of College of Natural Resources and Environmen attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
Feng Lixin, dean of CIE, extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the guests, students and teaching staff who attended the opening ceremony. He said that South China Agricultural University actively participates in the national foreign aid training and has so far undertaken 52 foreign aid training projects with more than 1,000 participants. SCAU will make every effort to create a good learning and living environment for the participants, and hope that all the participants can learn and gain during the training, share experience, exchange culture and establish friendship.
Li Yongtao, dean of College of Natural Resources and Environment, introduced the objectives and contents of the training workshop at the opening ceremony. He pointed out the importance of environmentally friendly fertilizers for environmental protection and sustainable agricultural development, and encouraged the participants to actively participate in learning and communication, master the production and application technology of environmentally friendly fertilizers, and apply the knowledge into practice. While introducing the advantages and resources in teaching and research, Li Yongtao hoped to establish connections and cooperation together to jointly promote the research and application of environmentally friendly fertilizers, and contribute to global agricultural development and environmental protection.
Mr. MUGOYA SADAT from Uganda, speaking on behalf of all the participants, thanked the Chinese government for holding the training workshop and South China Agricultural University for its efforts in this project, and said that he would cherish this training opportunity to share and learn the technology of fertilizer production and application.
