On May 18, the final of the 2023 South China Agricultural University 'Maker Cup' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for college students was successfully held in the maker space. 35 projects were selected from 101 projects across the university to reach the final. After intense competition, two teams of CIE and GDIC won the gold medal and one team won the bronze medal.

Chen Runxi, from 2020 Food Quality and Safety program, won the gold medal with the project 'All Things Tested Make Extraordinary -- Nano Antibody Technology Market Promotion Enables China's Smart Inspection'. Zhong Jiaxin, from 2021 Finance program, won the gold medal with the project 'Application of Digital Creativity in the Clothing Industry -- New Digital E-commerce Platform NEEDT for Clothing Customization'. The project 'Nuclear Free Longan -- The Continuation of Germplasm Creation and Identification of Triploid Longan' hosted by Ma Yuanhao and other students from the 2020 Biological Science program won the Bronze Award.

 This competition aims to actively promote the innovation and entrepreneurship of college students, and promote the formation of a new 'Internet +' business and the high-quality development of service economy by promoting the transformation of the results of the competition and the close integration of industry-university-research and application. The excellent results obtained in this competition are the practical results of  teaching reform and innovation practice of talent cultivation. The college has always adhered to a combination of measures, in-depth promotion of scientific research and practical education, and constantly encourages students to participate in various disciplinary competitions and social practices inside and outside the university in order to  improve students' innovative thinking and hands-on ability and cultivate high-quality talents in the new era.
